The MHS Outstanding Thesis Award is awarded for a master’s thesis on a topic in Mississippi history or biography completed during 2020 or 2021.
Theses will be judged on the basis of the following: originality and sophistication of concept, design, and methodology; compilation and effective use of evidence; clarity and precision of style; and significance of the work's contribution toward an understanding of Mississippi history.
The winner will be selected by the Mississippi Historical Society Moore Prize Committee, chaired by Dr. Christian Pinnen of Mississippi College. Nominations must be submitted by December 1, 2021. Prize winners will be notified before the March annual meeting of the Mississippi Historical Society.
